Advocate General to report on land deal

BENGALURU: THE Advocate General is likely to submit an opinion to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah about the land deal involving Chief Secretary Arvind Jadhav by Tuesday.

The report, prepared by the Assistant Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioner of Revenue Department, has been sent to the Principal Secretary, who has forwarded it to the Advocate General for legal opinion.

Sources in the CM’s office said they are expecting to receive the report latest by Tuesday. However, the CM has not asked the Chief Secretary to go on leave and is unlikely to do so, according to officials in CM’s office.

Four days ago, the CM had sought a report from the Revenue Department on the allegations against Jadhav for illegal acquisition of a 14 acre plot in Anekal in his mother Tarabai Jadhav’s name. Jadhav has denied all the charges.

Siddaramaiah on Saturday maintained that he had not received the report any refused to field any questions on the Chief Secretary. Jadhav, who had been travelling, was back on Saturday and he attended various meetings with the CM.

He also part of the delegation receiving President Pranab Mukherjee who is on a two-day visit to the city.
