Will solve river rows in a day: B S Yeddyurappa
BENGALURU: The Ekta Morcha organised by BJP Backward Classes Morcha projected former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa as the chief-ministerial candidate for the upcoming state elections in 2018. At the mega rally, which witnessed participation of thousands of BJP workers, the party leaders took turns listing out the achievements of Yeddyurappa.
At the rally, Yeddyurappa also announced that he would solve both Cauvery and Kalasa-Banduri issues within 24 hours of being elected to power in the state. He also highlighted the shortcomings of the state government and alleged that financial condition of the state was hit after Congress assumed power.
Criticising the state governments’ support for ‘Aakrosh Diwas’ — being observed to protest demonetisation — he said that people should observe it as ‘Sambram Diwas’, to celebrate the success of the Central government in curbing black money.
In his address, BJP national president Amit Shah hailed the contributions of Yeddyurappa during his tenure as CM and urged the gathering to choose a BJP government “in order to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre”.
Congress blamed
BJP MLA R Ashoka alleged that Congress was offering indirect support to people who were involved in the murders of BJP and Congress workers in the state. “Members of KFD and Popular Front of India, who are trained in Kerala, are planning to systematically eliminate key BJP workers. Congress is providing tacit support for such activities,” he said.
Leader of the Oppostion in Legislative Council K S Eshwarappa dared Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to reveal what he has done for the welfare of the backward classes. “If you (Siddaramaiah) can show what you have done, I will quit politics,” he said.
