BENGALURU: Lobbying and adopting novel ways to impress party leaders to bag plum posts in various boards and corporations not unusual in politics. But, by taking it too far, a Congress worker in Belagavi has landed in trouble after he tried to clinch the post of chairman of North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) by producing a ‘recommendation letter’ from AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi.
KPCC president G Parameshwara was almost on the verge of clearing Congress worker Santosh Patil’s name to head the NWKRTC when the latter submitted a recommendation letter from Rahul Gandhi. Parameshwara was in for a shock when he called up Rahul just to clear his doubts about the authenticity of the letter. Rahul Gandhi denied giving any recommendation letter for any post in Karnataka and Parameshwara was shocked to know that Santosh had forged the signature of Rahul to grab the lucrative post, party sources said.
Parameshwara has initiated action to ensure a criminal case is slapped against Patil.
Meanwhile, lobbying for nominations to head over 90 state government-owned boards and corporations has intensified again as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Parameshwara are holding talks with the high command in New Delhi on Monday to finalise the names.
