BAGEPALLI (CHIKBALLAPUR): There was high drama at the Bagepalli Narepalli Toll Plaza on NH-7, following an altercation between Andhra Pradesh TDP MP Nimmala Kistappa’s son, Ambareesh, and toll plaza workers on Monday morning.

According to sources, Ambareesh was headed to Bengaluru in his high-end car with his family, and asked the toll plaza workers to allow him to go without paying, as he had a pass. Sources said a copy of the pass was reportedly pasted on his car. It is alleged that one of the workers demanded to see the original pass and pushed a barricade which slightly scratched the car, leading to a heated argument.

Toll plaza workers alleged they asked Ambareesh to stop as the pass had a 2016 date and was not valid. They alleged that when they asked Ambareesh to pay the toll amount of Rs 80, he refused. Later, the MP’s followers and another son came and damaged the toll plaza, and also assaulted the workers.  After police intervened, the assailants were chased away.

Based on a complaint lodged by Ambareesh, the police registered a case against the toll plaza workers, who also filed a counter complaint against Ambareesh.
