Fugitive BJP MLA and his brood arrested for attack on Congress worker in Karnataka's Belagavi

MLA Kage and his brood allegedly attacked Congress supporter and businessman Vivek Shetty for posting a defamatory comment against the MLA on his FB page. The attack was captured by CCTV camera.

ATHANI (BELAGAVI DISTRICT): The Karnataka Police on Thursday succeeded in arresting BJP MLA Raju Kage of Kagawad, his wife, daughter, brother and two nephews who have been at large since allegedly assaulting a Congress party worker Vivek Shetty recently.

They BJP MLA, his wife Shobha, daughter Tripti, brother Siddangouda and nephews Prakash and Gajanan were nabbed in Pune during the wee hours of Thursday and were to be brought to Athani where they will be produced in court in the evening.

MLA Kage and his brood allegedly attacked Congress party supporter and businessman Vivek Shetty for posting a defamatory comment against the legislator on his Facebook page. The attack was captured by CCTV cameras showing Shobha, Trupti, Siddagouda and the two nephews attacking Shetty at his residence at Ugar Khurd in Athani taluk of Belagavi district.

Police have framed charges against 13 accused in connection with the case. A case has been registered at Kagawad police station and its investigation is being led by superintendent of police Ravikanthegowda, additional superintendent of police Ravindra Gadadi.
