BENGALURU: The state government has passed an order reserving 5 per cent of posts under direct recruitment for those candidates who have studied in Kannada medium from Class 1 to 10.

The order states that candidates who have studied from Class 1 to Class 10, where the qualifying education limit prescribed for a post is SSLC or higher, or those from Class 1 to qualifying examination, where the qualifying education limit is less than SSLC, will be considered, are eligible to come under this reservation under the Karnataka Public Service (General Recruitment) Rules. This order is also applicable to anyone who has studied in Kannada medium anywhere in the country. The quota would be within the 50 percent mandated by the Supreme Court and not in addition to it.
