BENGALURU:Students as well as officials heaved a sigh of relief after the completion of the second Pre-University Chemistry exam on Monday as there were no reports of a question paper leak.

Department officials involved in the exam were on their toes as the Chemistry paper was leaked thrice during the 2016 exams. After that incident, the department had taken several measures, including securing the exam system, to ensure glitch-free exams this year, according to officials.

For many students, Chemistry is a tough subject and difficult to score. But on Monday, majority of those who attempted the paper came out with a smile.

“The paper was easy and I was able to finish on time. I am happy that I will score good marks,” said Grishma of MES PU College.

Shruti B of Seshadripuram Composite PU College said, “As the Chemistry paper was leaked thrice last year, I was worried about the exam this year. But the PU department did everything to ensure error-free exam this year.”

Even education experts are pleased that the paper was easy. H G Srinivas, Dean, DCFL PU College said, “No errors, no out-of-syllabus questions in the paper. An average student can easily sail through by scoring 50 whereas a good student can get distinction.”

However, one malpractice case was reported from Kalaburagi on Monday. Apart from that, there were no cases of mass copying, paper reaching the centre late or any other incidents from any of the centres.
