BELAGAVI: Even as BJP members caused chaos in the Legislative Council on Monday, JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy appealed to the BJP members to help the government conduct the session in a meaningful way.

JD(S) sources told Express that Kumaraswamy had proposed to meet Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar and appeal to him not to waste time on politically motivated issues and instead use it to discuss developmental issues.

The party sources said such political issues had claimed both time and public money in previous sessions. “If the BJP decides to continue protesting, JD(S) will remain silent on the matter. JD(S) wants a positive outcome from the session instead of using it for political gain,” a JD(S) member said.  BJP members, however, said they will not allow the session until minister K J George resigns over the alleged suicide of Mangaluru DySp Ganapathy.
