BJP launches protest campaign seeking George’s resignation in Ganapathy case

The BJP demonstrations took place demanding the resignation of K J George in the wake of the Supreme Court ordering a CBI probe into the alleged suicide of a DySP.

BENGALURU: The BJP on Saturday launched a state-wide campaign demanding Bengaluru Development Minister K J George’s resignation after the Supreme Court ordered a CBI probe into DySP M K Ganapathy suicide case. An overnight dharna too will be held in the city on September 26. BJP state president and the party’s chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa, who led the agitation at Maurya Circle, said, “Soon after the Supreme Court directed CBI to probe DySP Ganapathy suicide case, George should have resigned on his own. Since he has not done that, we are demanding that the chief minister sack him from the ministry.’’

Yeddyurappa said they will continue to protest till the minister resigns or the Chief Minister sacks him. Speaking to reporters, BJP General Secretary Arvind Limbavali said party leaders will stage an overnight dharna in the city on September 26.

Former CM Jagadish Shettar, Leader of the Opposition in Council K S Eshwarappa, former ministers Aravind Limbavali, V Somanna, C M Udasi, Govind Karajol, Sriramulu, MPs PC Mohan, Siddeshwar and others were present at Saturday’s agitation. BJP units also held protests at district headquarters. Meanwhile, speaking to reporters in New Delhi, CM said the Supreme Court had directed the CBI to probe the case and it has not rejected the CID report. In Bengaluru, George told reporters that the opposition should wait till the CBI submits its report.
