MANGALURU: A 25-year-old traffic constable was awarded a cash prize by the Police commissioner for exemplary service, beyond his role. On Thursday morning, Revanasiddappa stopped vehicles for 20 minutes to fix the metal joint on the concrete road at Bunts Hostel, which was jutting out, posing a danger to motorists, especially two-wheelers. His decision to fix the road came a day after one of the bikers skidded onn this road and was almost run over by a bus.

While correcting the metal line on the road that was neglected by the corporation for months, he was videographed by Rajesh, a salesperson from a store nearby. “I was quite inspired by what he did, and shot a video to show it to others,” said Rajesh. The video went viral on social media and by evening, Revanasiddappa, who was on his break, woke up to 45 missed calls. When he reached his usual workplace, the free-left at Buntshostel, he was flanked by several reporters.
