MYSURU: Following directions from a court here, Lakshmipuram police have filed a first information report (FIR) against former chief minister Siddaramaiah and three others facing charges in a land denotification case. The three other accused in the case are former Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) chairman C Basave Gowda, another former chairman D Dhruvakumar and incumbent MUDA Commissioner P S Kantharaju.

The FIR has been filed under various sections of IPC like- 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy), 197 (issuing signing false certificate), 166 (disobeying law), 167 (framing incorrect document), 169 (unlawfully buying of property), 200 (false declaration with intent), 417 (punishment for cheating), 409 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) and 468 (forgery).

This follows a private complaint by RTI activist N Gangaraju. He had alleged that in 1997, Siddaramaiah had bought 10 guntas illegally in Vijayanagar 2nd Stage and built a house before selling it when he was the deputy chief minister. Barring the land in question, the other lands had been acquired by MUDA.

The said land was denotified only at the behest of Siddaramaiah, who later built a house in the dimension of 120x75ft by encroaching upon a portion of neighbour land. He later sold the house. When contacted, Police Commissioner Dr A S Subramanyeshwar Rao confirmed that an FIR has been filed in this regard.
