MYSURU:  In a bizarre incident, Mysuru-based folk artiste Kamsale Ravi cleansed the Jamboo Savari route — the same road taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his recent roadshow — with gomutra, cow dung and water.

Ravi, who has been participating in the famous Dasara procession performing Kamsale for the past 25 years, had hired a tanker to spray water along the route from KR Circle near Amba Vilas Palace to Bannimantap. Ravi also sprinkled gomutra which was brought in a bottle. He was assisted by two women. The police, however, stopped him near Visvesvaraya Circle near Government Ayurveda College as he had not taken prior permission.

“I am not against PM Modi as he gave us free Covid vaccine. But, the Jamboo Savari route has been used by the Mysuru Royal family for the procession of Goddess Chamundeshwari for centuries. Only during Dasara festivities, the route is blocked for public movement. But, it is for the first time in the history of Mysuru that the route was blocked for the public for a different reason,” Ravi told TNIE.

Ravi said it is not PM Modi’s fault as he is unaware of Mysuru’s culture and tradition. “Local leaders should have told him about the importance of the procession route. They could have arranged an alternative route for the roadshow. The incident has insulted the erstwhile Mysuru royal family for which Goddess Chamundeshwari has cursed, leading to the defeat of BJP in the Assembly election,” he said.
