BENGALURU: Science Gallery Bengaluru’s (SGB) new annual exhibition season, QUANTUM, which explores the complexities of quantum mechanics, has opened to the public.
Through a series of interactive installations, the exhibition invites visitors to experience quantum mechanics not merely as a scientific concept but also as a philosophical and existential conundrum, rather than attempting to “teach” the subject in a conventional manner.
Drawing on one of the most enduring thought experiments in quantum physics, Erwin Schrödinger’s cat in a box—the exhibition presents quantum mechanics’ inherent uncertainty and indeterminacy as questions that extend beyond physics.
This sense of indeterminacy is reflected across the installations, many of which offer different interpretations or outcomes depending on how visitors engage with them. The exhibition also examines how emerging quantum technologies could reshape human relationships as well as humanity’s interaction with the planet.
