Four killed as bus collides with tourist vehicle in Karnataka's Kambala

According to the police, a multi-utility vehicle (MUV) carrying 12 passengers and a child met with an accident, leaving three occupants dead on the spot.

UDUPI: Four people were killed and several others injured in a head-on collision between a private bus and a multi-utility vehicle (MUV) near Kambala Cross in Miyar village, under the jurisdiction of Karkala Town Police Station on Friday afternoon.

The accident occurred around 2:50 pm on the National Highway, when a private bus from Dharmasthala towards Karkala collided with an MUV that was going from Kalaburagi to Dharmasthala. According to the police, MUV was carrying 12 passengers and a child. Three occupants of the vehicle died on the spot due and the fourth victim passed away while undergoing treatment. The deceased have been identified as Mannappa (28) the driver of the MUV, Chethan (27) and Rohith (28) and Mallamma (50). One of the passengers sustained critical injuries and has been shifted to Kasturba Hospital, Manipal.

A child who suffered minor injuries has been admitted to a hospital in Karkala. Other injured passengers are also undergoing treatment at the hospital in Karkala.

Due to the impact, the front portion of the MUV was completely mangled.

The injured are Sangeetha (40), Kavita (38), Basavaraj (56), Kishore (28), Lakshmi (25), Jyothi (25), Jayalakshmi (24) and two-year-old child- Kushal.
