BENGALURU: Caretaker CM Siddaramaiah continues to reinforce his image as a champion of backward classes and Ahinda communities, as a high-level delegation of over 20 heads of mutts representing various oppressed and backward castes met him at his official residence in Bengaluru on Monday.
The delegation’s visit comes just days after the Backward Classes Commission, constituted by the Siddaramaiah government, submitted its much-awaited report.
The mutt heads reportedly expressed gratitude for Siddaramaiah’s consistent advocacy on behalf of backward communities and discussed the implementation of the commission’s recommendations.
Under Siddaramaiah’s leadership, a record number of candidates from backward classes have secured electoral victories, marking a significant representation.
Political observers note that if the state government implements the Commission’s suggestions, the number of backward class MLAs and MLCs could see a sharp rise. Siddaramaiah, widely regarded as a leader who has prioritised social justice and empowerment of marginalised sections, assured the delegation of his continued support.
