TRIPUNITHURA: UNESCO ambassador David Dabydeen on Sunday inaugurated the `Heart to Heart’ programme at the VHSS, Panangad, near here.

The programme, jointly organised by the Gopinatha Menon Educational Trust, the Heart Care Foundation, Lakshmi Hospital and the Inner Wheel Club of Cochin, aims at giving medical aid and conducting free medical camps for people suffering from heart-related diseases.

“The Heart Care Foundation is dedicated to helping the people to diagnose heart-related diseases and ensure timely treatment,” said Dr Jose Chacko Periapuram, who delivered the keynote address at the inaugural function.

“We are planning to spread the message on heart care through students by introducing `heart bands’ and circulating pamphlets among the public. This will be helpful as the parents would not be able to neglect the message their wards carry on heart care,” Jose said and urged the gathering to keep themselves away from habits like smoking.

Brian Liston, chairman of AIMA group, London, Inner Wheel Club of Cochin president Asha Sunil and others spoke.

School principal V M Lathika welcomed the gathering and Gopinatha Menon Educational Trust managing trustee O G Sunil proposed a vote of thanks.
