KOTTAYAM: This year’s Prof K M Chandy Award for outstanding contributions in the co-operative sector will be presented to M M Monayi MLA.
The award, carrying Rs 10,000 and a scroll of honour, is instituted by the Pala Rubber Marketing Society.
Announcing the award at a news conference here on Monday, Society president K K Abraham said that the laudable performance of the awardee to revitalise the co-operative sector in Ernakulam district through many innovative schemes and diversification programmes has earned him the honour. The award has been named after the late Prof K M Chandy, noted Congress leader and former Governor of Gujarat.
A CPM MLA now, Monayi was selected by a panel comprising former Meghalaya governor M M Jacob, CMP leader and State Cooperative Bank former president K R Aravindakshan and Kerala Congress leader and ex-MLA Joy Abraham.
