A Court granted bail to Reghu, prime accused in the attack on security personnel and passengers at the Tvm airport.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court here has granted bail to Reghu alias Madathil Reghu, the first-accused in the attack on security personnel and passengers at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on February 7.

Reghu, who surrendered before CJM P.Muraleedharan on Tuesday morning, was granted bail on the basis of two solvent sureties worth Rs 5 lakh each and bond for Rs 5 lakh.

The court rejected the request of the police for custodial interrogation of Reghu for two days. Reghu was also directed to appear before the investigating officer between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on February 25 and 26 and any other day as required by the investigating officer.

Advocate Selin Wilfred, who appeared for Reghu, stated that the attack on security personnel was out of an immediate provocation. She also stated that the Rs 3.4-lakh remitted at the court for releasing another accused in the case, Egyptborn UK citizen Ahmed Mohamed Al-Jalak, on bail was provided by Reghu. Al-Jalak was also present in the court on Tuesday.
