THRISSUR: Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan is not impressed by the sea waves theory propounded by his bete noire Pinarayi Vijayan at the conclusion of his yatra in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday. “If a bucket of water is taken from the sea, there won’t be waves in that.
Waves are only created when the water is in the sea,” Vijayan had said to remind VS that outside the party, a leader or a worker cannot gain strength.
After keeping silent for a few days, Achuthanandan gave a telling reply to Vijayan in the same coin, though not mentioning him by name. “The Soviet Union was a great ocean of social transformation and i t s strong waves had brought about radical social changes in developing countries like India. But unfortunately, the advent of Gorbachev had dried up the sea. The buckets of water now drawn from that place would tell a different story,” Achuthanandan said on Saturday, sending a message across to the state secretary that his waves theory does not hold water and that history is against him.
Achuthanandan was inaugurating the Kerala Pravasi Welfare Scheme and the Norka Cell here. He went on to demolish Vijayan’s arguments saying the oceans occupied twothirds of the globe. But many “great oceans of established social systems” had disappeared. The Latin American and Asian countries are now making efforts to stall such developments.
“The revolutionary movements in Kerala and India are alert in preventing such Gorbachaves from drying up our oceans,” he said.
He said that with the active support of politicians and officials, the land mafia is running a parallel economy in the state.
