PATHANAMTHITTA: Drinking water supply in Konni and Elanthur panchayats was disrupted following the snapping of power supply to the pump houses of the Kerala Water Authority on Tuesday.

The power disconnection stopped water supply from three pump houses in Konni and four in Elanthur, badly affecting the people living in both panchayats.

The KSEB resorted to disconnection of power supply to the KWA pumping stations of Pathanamthitta municipality, Kozhencherry and Ranni panchayats on Monday morning.

The electricity supply was, however, restored in Pathanamthitta municipality and Kozhencherry panchayat on Monday evening.

However, water supply was restored in Ranni only on Tuesday morning as the electricity supply was restored there on Tuesday morning.

Minister’s promise: Water Resources Minister N K Premachandran has promised to resolve the disruption of drinking water supply owing to power disconnection by KSEB to the KWA pump houses on the issue of pending arrers.

He said at a function held in connection with a church perunnal at Ranni on Tuesday that the sub-committee comprising Finance Minister Thomas Isaac, Electricity Minister A K Balan and the Water Resources Minister would sort out the issue at a meeting to be held on Wednesday.
