KOCHI: Falcon Institute of Logistics, a part of Vidyabharati Group of Institutions, in association with the Dubai Ports World (DPW), has launched joboriented courses in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. The courses, Diploma and Post Graduate Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, were launched by Cochin Port Trust chairman N Ramachandran on Thursday.

Speaking after launching the course, Ramachandran said that it was the best time to launch the courses as Kochi would soon become the logistics hub in South India. "Maritime sector offers tremendous job potential for trained persons," he said.

The diploma course is of 15-month duration while the PG Diploma course will be for 12 months. The course will be conducted in semesters.

Three-month internship at India Gateway Terminal Limited of DPW, Cochin Port Trust and Falcon Container Freight Station is a part of the course. A pass in degree or Plus-II with 50 percent is the qualification for PG Diploma and diploma courses respectively. "The syllabus and examination scheme of the course were prepared by experts in the sector. We have also submitted application to the Government of Kerala for recognising the course. Students who successfully complete the course will be given placement assistance also.'' said M N A Mohammed Kutty, chief patron, Vidyabharati Group of Institutions. The course fee is Rs 80,000. Initially there will be two batches with a strength of 30 students.
