THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The mortal remains of actor and director Venu Nagavally, 61, were cremated at Shanti Kavadom  at Thycaud here with state honours at 5 p.m. on Thursday.  Venu Nagavally died at a private hospital here in the wee hours of Thursday. He was suffering from liver disease for the past few years. He is survived by wife Meera and son Vivek.

 Venu Nagavally was the son of writer and commentator the late Nagavally R S Kurup and Rajamma. Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, Ministers M A Baby, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy, Ramesh Chennithala, colleagues, including Mammootty, Mohanlal, K G George, Innocent and Cherian Kalpakavadi paid tributes when the body was kept at the VJT Hall here for the public to pay their last respects.
