PALAKKAD: No untoward incidents were reported from the border areas between Kerala and Tamil Nadu on Monday as both KSRTC and Tamil Nadu Service Transport Corporation (TNSTC) operated services only till the border at Walayar. While the KSRTC operated services from Palakkad up to Walayar, the TNSTC operated services from Coimbatore till the border. The buses swapped the passengers at the Walayar border and continued journey back to their respective places.

Similarly, three buses from the Palakkad KSRTC depot conducted services till Gopalapuram.

District Transport Officer of the KSRTC Palakkad depot K Vijayakumar told ‘Express’ that though the state government wanted the KSRTC to operate services till Coimbatore, the unions of the KSRTC employees had served a notice, pointing out that they were not willing to operate owing to attacks in the wake of the Mullaperiyar issue. “So, the KSRTC buses operated only till Walayar and Gopalapuram,” Vijayakumar said.
