TRIPUNITHURA: A lecture-cum-demonstration session on kathakali chenda began at RLV College of Music and Fine Arts here on Tuesday.
Kathakali chenda maestro Mankulam Krishnan Namboothiri presented a demonstration after inaugurating it. Through selected padams from Nalacharitham, Kirmeera Vadham, Ravana Viyajam, Kuchela Vrutham and Daksha Yaagam, the chenda maestro displayed the patterns adopted by a chenda player to add rhythmic beauty to the acting. Kalamandalam Prakashan added the rhythmic cadence through his maddalam. The session will conclude on Friday.
