KOTTAYAM: Writers like Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai and Ponkunnam Varkey had immensely contributed to the upsurge of leftist and other progressive organisations in the state, while they unravelled the then socio-political milieu to the level of an awakening in society, Opposition Leader V S Achuthanadan said here on Sunday.
He was launching the yearlong fete of Thakazhi’s birth centenary, under the aegis of the Purogamana Kala Sahitya Sangham.
Thakazhi’s writings had propelled a social thinking conducive to strengthen the Communist progressive movements, he said.
As a stalwart in prose writing, Thakazhi had reconstructed the very concept of art and literature through his genius, he added .
