THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has directed to issue a further comprehensive notification under the Delhi Police Special Establishment (DPSE) Act in the lottery case.
The new notification, the necessary requirement for a CBI probe, will include all aspects of lottery violations since '04, including CPM's alleged links with lottery king Santiago Martin and also Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan's alleged connections with the lottery mafia. Congress legislator V D Satheesan, in a letter written to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on June 23, had urged the Chief Minister to include within the scope of the investigation Santiago Martin's decision to make a contribution of `2 crore to CPM mouthpiece 'Deshabhimani.
Satheesan had also termed as mysterious the live telecast of Bhutan lottery draw in the Kairali channel.
The Chief Minister had directed that Satheesan's
letter be included in the
notification. Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan's letter, the one he had written to the Chief Minister on June 21 and in which he had alleged that over `80,000 crore had been siphoned off the state in the past five years, too, will be part of the notification.
Further, all the documents and memorandums handed over to the Centre by the UDF Government since 2004 and the LDF Government since 2006 will also be part of the notification.
The decision was taken at a highlevel meeting convened by the Chief Minister here on Monday in the presence of Finance Minister K M Mani and AdvocateGeneral K P Dandapani. A notification under the DPSE Act is necessary for the Centre to launch a CBI probe.
