THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  Governor R S Gavai, who  demitted office after a three-year tenure in the state,  was accorded a warm farewell on Wednesday.  Chief Minister Oommen Chandy,  Speaker G Karthikeyan,  Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty and ST Welfare Minister P K Jayalakshmi and top government officials were present at the airport to bid farewell to Gavai and wife Kamaltai Gavai who left by an afternoon flight to Mumbai.

 M O H Farook will be sworn in as the new Governor of the state on Thursday. Chief Justice J Chelameswar will administer the oath of office to the new Governor at  a function to be held at Raj Bhavan at 10 am on Thursday.   Farook arrived in an evening flight from Chennai.
