KOCHI: The Justice P A Mohammed Committee on Tuesday declared the proposed entrance examination to be conducted by the Kerala Private Medical Colleges Management Association invalid.

The national-level entrance examination was to be conducted for admissions to management seats in Medical PG and Diploma courses in colleges under the association. The decision was taken as the association has not taken the prior permission from the committee or submitted the prospectus for its approval.

The Admission Supervisory Committee for Professional Colleges, which met on Tuesday, issued a warning to the students that both the entrance examination and subsequent admissions to these seats would be invalid. The committee further said the declaration would be applicable to the Kerala Private Medical College Management Association, Kerala Christian Professional College Management Federation and other self-financing institutions.

The committee served a notice on the Kerala Private Medical College Management Association, seeking explanation for issuing the notification on the entrance examination. The committee asked the secretary of the association to appear before the committee meeting on April 18.

It was on March 31 that the Private Medical College Management Association issued a notification through its website regarding the national entrance to be held for post-graduate and diploma courses. As per the notification, applications should be submitted online before April 10. The P A Mohammed Committee noted that the entrance examination is being conducted without prior permission from the committee.

The Committee said that so far the association has not submitted the prospectus for the former’s consideration and approval.  The committee has already declared on January 12, 2012  that all self-financing colleges and institutions should submit their prospectus for its approval.

Also, the committee has discussed the changes to be made in the prospectus of various courses. However, the Kerala Private Medical College Management Association and the Kerala Christian Professional College Management Federation have not submitted their course prospectus for 2012-13 before the committee.
