Kamal bags NETPAC Award

Malayali director Kamal K M bagged the NETPAC Award for Best Asian Film, through his Hindi film ‘ID’.

 Algerian film ‘The Repentant’, won the FIPRESCI Award for Best Film in the competition section.

 ‘Chayilyam’ by Manoj Kana received the Hassankutty Award for Best Indian Debut Film.

 ‘Ee Adutha Kalath’ by Arun Kumar Aravind and ‘Ithra Mathram’ by K Gopinathan won the awards for the best Malayalam film by the NETPAC and FIPRESCI, respectively.

 In a ceremony held at Nishagandhi open air theatre here at Kanakakkunnu, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy distributed the major awards.

 P K Nair, Director of the National Film Archive of India (NFAI), was honoured at the closing ceremony attended by dignitaries, including Minister for Films K B Ganesh Kumar, Minister K C Joseph, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy Chairman Priyadarsan and jury chairman Paul Coax.
