Either rein in League or dissolve Government: NSS

Express News Service

NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair has reacted sharply to the statement made by PWD Minister V K Ebrahim Kunju that Muslim League is ruling the state.

At a press conference held at the NSS headquarters in Perunna on Saturday, Nair said that if the Congress party cannot control Muslim League, it would be better to dissolve the present UDF government and face fresh elections.

“As a minister, V K Ebrahim Kunju should not have made such a statement. Such statements affect the unity of the ruling alliance. Ebrahim Kunju has come to NSS headquarters seeking the support of the NSS before the last assembly elections, and he should acknowledge the fact that not only Muslim League supporters, but people from all the sections have voted to make him the minister, and so for making such a statement, he should apologise in public,” said Nair.

He said now the onus is on the Congress to reply to the statement made by Ebrahim Kunju.

“The League is now telling openly what Congress is reluctant to say. In the ministries in the government which are under their control, the League is trying to implement their own agenda,” he said.

He added that it is a ‘shameless’ government that is ruling the state.
