Four of a family killed in road mishap

Four members of a family hailing from Anchal in Kollam district were killed in a road accident at Kuravankuzhy near here on Saturday evening.

The victims were identified as Bhadran, 53, his daughter Midhila, 18, mother- in-law Bhavani, 65, and Jayaprabha, 40, sister of Bhadran’s wife.

According to the police, the Alto car in which the family was travelling was rammed by a tipper lorry at 4.30 pm. The four were on their way from Anchal to an Ayurvedic hospital in Neyyatinkara when the tragedy occurred.

Soman, the lorry driver, was reportedly in an inebriated state. He also received injuries and has been hospitalised. The bodies were pulled out of the vehicle by the local public and the police.

Bhavani’s body is being kept at Gokulam Medical College while that of the rest are at Chirayinkeezhu Taluk Hospital.
