Government staff to strike work from January 8

Government employees and teachers in the state affiliated to various unions will go on an indefinite strike from January 8 in protest against various government policies.

The unions include Action Council of State Employees and Teachers, Teachers’ Service Agitation Council and Federation of Employees and Teachers Organisation.

 As part of the strike the unions will organise a motor rally in all districts from Tuesday to Thursday.

The demands of the unions are to cancel private participation in pension system, stop abolishing various posts in government offices and full implementation of the recommendations of the Pay Commission.

 In Ernakulam district the motor rally will start from Koothattukulam on Tuesday evening.

On Wednesday the rally will begin from Piravom and halt at Paravoor. It will conclude at Tripunithura Statue Junction on Thursday.
