AIE hijack scare: Six summoned

The police team investigating the Air India Express aircraft hijack scare here will record the statements of six passengers against whom Valiyathura police registered a case.

Assistant Commissioner, Shanghumugham, K S Vimal Kumar, who was entrusted with the investigation will record the statements of the accused. Abdul Khader of Kunnamkulam, Muhammed Ashraf of Kodungalloor, Thomas Joseph of Olloor, Manoj of Edavanakadu, Rasheed of Kuttipuram and Augustine, a MBA student, were summoned. The passengers were asked to report on Thursday.

The pilot of the flight Rupali Waghmare filed a complaint with the police alleging that the passengers tried to barge into the cockpit. She also sent a hijack code to the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation and the flight was delayed for more than eight hours before leaving to Kochi.
