Man arrested for bid to kill child

A man, who tried to kill a three-and-a-half-year-old child, was arrested by the Angamaly police here on Wednesday.

Jothish, 35, native of Vynthala, Chalakudy, and son of Paniyuruthi veetil Unnichekkan living at Kanichai colony, was the one who tried to kill the child by stomping on the abdomen and crushing the child under his feet in a fit of frenzy.

It was reported that part of the child’s viscera was tossed out in the attack. The injured child is Ramjirao, son of Gopi and Radha, belonging to Koovakkad Thengodathu veetil, at Meloor near Angamaly.

Soon after the attempt, Jothish sneaked out of the scene and went into hiding. The police, who acted on a tip about his hideout, arrested him after one month from his wife’s house at Kalloor near Mala.

The incident took place at T B Junction at Angamaly on 28 September. Jothish will be produced before the court on Thursday for further proceedings.
