Aroor church collapse: One more body recovered

The death toll in the building collapse at St Augustine Church here rose to two, when rescue workers recovered the body of Sebastian Suresh Raj, 30, a migrant labourer from Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, in the early hours of Tuesday.

The accident occurred on Monday evening, when the main beam of the new church building which was under construction, collapsed. Around 13 workers are undergoing treatment at various  hospitals in Ernakulam, including Lakeshore, General Hospital and Medical Trust. 

The construction of the new building of St Augustine Church, which was originally built in 1877, had begun one-and-a-half years back. In the rescue operations on Monday, immediately after the mishap, the body of Biswanath, a migrant worker from Bihar, was recovered. The body of the second victim, Kumar, is kept at the Cherthala Taluk Hospital after post-mortem.
