Justice Pius tipped to be Sikkim HC CJ

The name of Justice Pius C Kuriakose of the Kerala High Court has been recommended for the position of the Chief Justice of Sikkim by the Supreme Court Collegium.

Justice Pius was appointed as the additional judge of the High Court of Kerala on September 9, 2002, and later appointed as permanent judge. Born in Tripunithura in 1951, he did his schooling at St Mary’s Lower Primary School, Tripunithura, the Leo XIII English Medium High School, Alappuzha and Govt Boy’s High School, Tripunithura.

Later, he joined the Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam, and then Law College, Ernakulam. He enrolled as lawyer in 1974 and started practice in Ernakulam.

He practised regular civil, rent control matters, land acquisition matters miscellaneous constitutional matters and criminal matters. He discontinued practice on criminal side by 1988.
