Plea in High Court seeking CBI probe into solar scam

Express News Service

A petition has been filed before the High Court seeking CBI probe in the solar panel scam in which Biju Radhakrishnan and Saritha S Nair are the main accused. The petition was filed by Kizhakkanela Sudhakaran of South Paravur in Kollam.

Counsel for the petitioner C Rajendran said highly influential politicians, including Chief Minister, union ministers, senior officers of administrative and police departments and highly-influential politicians, are under suspicion in the case.

Biju and Saritha had floated solar companies across the state and cheated doctors, NRIs, builders, businessmen and several middle-class people.  Both of them allegedly had close contact with the Chief Minister through his personal staff members and senior police officers, the petition stated.

“Even though the investigation is in progress, nothing fruitful will happen since the accused are highly influential. Hence a CBI probe is essential to unearth the truth,” it said. A parallel police force, other than the investigation team, is destroying evidence about the connection of ministers and other personnel with the accused, it alleged.
