Ultimatum on use of sun control films

Express News Service

The Transport Department has asked vehicle owners to remove black film or similar materials on the wind screen and safety glasses before June 17 to avoid suspension of vehicle registration.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, the Department said cancellation of registration would also be made if the offence was repeated.

The direction is in the wake of the guidelines issued by the Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry to ensure implementation of the Supreme Court verdict in this regard.

The apex court had on April 27, 2012, ordered that black films or any other similar materials which block visibility should not be allowed on the wind screens and window glasses from May 4, 2012.

But, rampant violation of the Supreme Court order was reported in the state which forced the Transport Department to go for tough action.
