New bulk supply tariff rates for KSEB licencees

Express News Service

The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission has revised the bulk supply tariff (BST) applicable to licencees of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB).

The tariffs will be applicable with retrospective effect from May 1 and until the commission revises them, the commission said in a May 27 order.

The per-unit energy charges for KINESCO Power and Utilities Pvt Ltd (KPUPL) has been upped from Rs 4.15 to Rs 4.75; the tariff for the Cochin Special Economic Zone (CSEZ), from Rs 4.30 to Rs 4.40; for the Rubber Park Ltd (RPL) from Rs 3.70 to Rs 4.55. and Technopark, from Rs 4 to Rs 4.85. The tariff for Kannan Devan Hills Plantation Company Pvt Ltd (KDPHCL) has been hiked from Rs 3.70 to Rs 3.80.

For the Military Engineering Services (MES), the Pondicherry Electricity Department (PED) and Karnataka, the tariffs have risen from Rs 4.10 to Rs 4.45.

The BST for the  Cochin Port Trust (CPT) and the Thrissur Corporation has been reduced from Rs 5.30 to Rs 5.05 and Rs 5.20 to Rs 4.40, the order said.

The licencees of the KSEB are those consumers who purchase electricity from the KSEB in ‘bulk’ and supply it in their respective areas.

For instance, the Thrissur Corporation - unlike other local bodies - is a supplier of electricity in the old municipality areas of the town.

The commission had earlier announced that the BST rates would be announced separately, but that it will have retrospective effect from May 1.

The PED is a consumer of the KSEB as the latter supplies electricity to Mahe, a region which comes under Pondicherry.

The tariff for Technopark will be applicable to Infopark, Cherthala, for the time being, the commission has said.

This is because although the facility has started operations as a licencee, its Aggregate Revenue Requirement and Expected Revenue from Charges (ARR&ERC) have not been approved by the commission so far.
