Express News Service

‘Mukhyadara,’ CPM’s magazine exclusively for minority communities, will be released by CPM general secretary Prakash Karat at a function to be held at the Kozhikode Beach Marine Ground on November 7 at 9 am. Qutubuddin Ansari, whose face symbolised the violent Hindu-Muslim riots in Gujarat in 2002, will receive the first copy of the magazine. CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, Mukhtar Ahamed, Shabnam Hashmi, K N Panikker and P Valsala will speak on the occasion. Karat will also inaugurate a seminar on ‘Minorities, Secularism and Communal Fascism,’ in which noted personalities in various socio-religious fields will present papers. It will discuss the issues faced by religious minorities due to the challenges posed by globalisation and cultural nationalism. There will be debates on how to protect the cultural identity of religious minorities by adhering to secularist principles.
