Noted writer and chairman of Kerala Sahitya Akademi Perumbadavam Sreedharan will be conferred the Vallathol Award for 2013. The award carries a cash component of Rs 1,11,111 and a citation. The decision to confer the honour on Sreedharan was taken by the Vallathol Sahitya Samithi. The award committee lauded Sreedharan’s works in which “realistic and romantic elements have been perfectly blended.” The award committee comprised R Ramachandran Nair, Kavalam Narayana Panicker, Puthussery Ramachandran, A M Vasudevan Pillai and C J Rajagopal. The award will be presented to Sreedharan at a literary conclave at the Theerthapada Mandapam in East Fort on October 16, a press release from Vallathol Sahitya Samithi said.
