Mortal Remains of Puthur Consigned to the Flames

The mortal remains of writer Unnikrishnan Puthur were assigned to flames on Thursday noon after hundreds of people paid last tributes to their beloved writer. He was given a state funeral at his residence here.

The mortal remains of writer Unnikrishnan Puthur were assigned to flames on Thursday noon after hundreds of people paid last tributes to their beloved writer. He was given a state funeral at his residence here.

District Collector M S Jaya placed a wreath on behalf of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy while Chavakkad Tahasildar placed a wreath on behalf of Speaker G Karthikeyan.

KPCC president V M Sudheeran, Co-operation Minister C N Balakrishnan, CPM district secretary A C Moideen, LDF’s candidate at Kollam Lok Sabha constituency M A Baby, Guruvayur municipal Chairman T T Sivadasan, Chavakkad municipal chairperson Satheerathnam Surendran, writer Madambu Kunjukuttan, actors Shivaji Guruvayur and V K Sreeraman paid homage to the veteran writer.      Puthur, 81, had died owing to old-age related ailments on Wednesday afternoon at a private hospital in Chavakkad.
