MALAPPURAM: Saleh Fhied Muhammed,  Minister and spokesperson of the Palestine Embassy in New Delhi, was overwhelmed with emotion on Saturday over the support his nation was getting from Kerala and called for the support of India in its struggles.

Saleh Fhied Muhammed had come to Malappuram on Saturday to attend the Panakkad Syed Muhammadali Shihab Thangal commemoration programme and the Palestine solidarity declaration by the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML). He shared the struggles Palestinians were going through on the occasion.

He said that Israel started the attack without any provocation. The attack came at a time when the state of Palestine was showing more unity than ever.

“Israel is accountable for the war crimes and crimes against humanity. We are grateful to the people supporting us, but more action is needed to end the large scale genocide and human catastrophe in Gaza.

“The Israeli occupation forces destroyed mosques, schools, hospitals, farm lands and even the only power station in Gaza.

“The majority of people murdered by Israeli forces are civilians and a great chunk is children,” the minister said.

The people who attended the commemoration programme came forward and expressed their solidarity with Palestine. People from all walks and ages offered their support.

“The support Keralites are giving us is really emotional and comes deep from the heart. I am happy with the support we are getting from here,” Saleh Fhied told ‘Express’. But he refused to comment on the stand taken by the Indian government on the issue.
