Workshop on Environmental Audit Held

KAKKANAD: The workshop organised by the Kerala Local Government Service Delivery Project (KLGSDP) for the local bodies on environmental audit findings saw a participation of around 500 local body representatives. The workshop was held at Kalammassery Town Hall.

The panchayat presidents, development Standing committee chairperson, secretary and assistant engineers from all the local bodies participated the workshop. The workshop was inaugurated by District Grama Panchayat Association general secretary PV Jose.

KLGSDP is intermediary agency to enhance and strengthen the institutional capacity of the local government system and undertake basic administrative and governance functions more effectively and in a sustainable manner Bindhu MS, environment and social safeguard specialist, KLGSDP, led the workshop class. The workshop was mainly dealt with environmental audit while constructing buildings using the world bank fund. It also aimed at creating awareness among the civic authorities about the objectives, methodology and tools while taking a project for its implementation.

Ernakulam District Planning officer Saly Joseph, panchayat deputy director Arjun, KLGSDP deputy director VP Sukumaran, KLGSDP capacity building specialist K Krishnakumar, district coordinators Sajna and Jestin attended the programme.
