SABARIMALA:  The much-needed Kanamala bridge, linking Kottayam with Pathanamthitta districts on the Erumely-Elavunkal-Pampa road  will be commissioned at a function on December 23. The construction of the ` 7.50 crore bridge, which began way back in 2009, was delayed due to the laxity of the PWD authorities and construction tactics of the Forest Department.

The initiatives of Raju Abraham MLA and govt chief whip P C George in preventing further delay should be appreciated. The opening of the Kanamala bridge, with a length of 170-metre and width  of 11.23-metre, would be a big relief for thousands of pilgrims whose vehicles are held up in traffic snarls at present.

The bridge will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at a function on December 23.

Public Works Minister Ibrahim Kunju will preside over the function.

Anto Antony MP, govt chief whip P C George and Raju Abraham MLA, will offer felicitations.
