Moving ahead with its declaration of forming a third front against the two major political fronts in the state, the Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) has formed a Left United Front (LUF) with Socialist Unity Centre of India and Marxist Communist Party of India (United) as its allies.
The third political front, a new political coalition in the state which is not part of the either the Congress-led United Democratic Front or CPM-led Left Democratic Front, was formed after a discussion of the three party leaders at Aluva on Monday.
A state convention of the Left United Front will be held on March 12 in Alappuzha. The LUF would contest in all 20 seats in the upcoming parliamentary election. While the SUCI will contest in six constituencies and MCPI (U) in two seats, RMP will field candidate in the rest of the LS constituencies.
‘’Aam Aadmi Party is also not out of our consideration. RMP would join hand with all other parties which are following Leftist ideologies with whom it can cooperate and work,’’ RMP state secretary N Venu told ‘Express.’ SUCI state secretariat member V Venugopal said that the unity with RMP was a move to fight against the evils of globalisation and wrong doings in politics.
RMP leader K K Rema, wife of the slain leader T P Chandrasekharan, also echoed the opinion of N Venu saying that the party would enter into agreements only with those parties which are based on Leftist ideologies. Asked on Mahila Congress state president Bindu Krishna’s opinion to invite Rema into the UDF fold, the RMP leader said that it was not for Bindu Krishna to decide on that.
‘’She does not know who Rema is and what is RMP. We have been fighting against the deviations from the Leftist ideologies. We are not like other politicians who would join parties with opposite ideologies once they leave their mother parties. Our stand wont be changed,’’ Rema said.
It was a week ago that the RMP had declared that it would form a third front against the UDF and the LDF. Marxist Communist Party of India (United) was formed in 2005 by the unification of the Marxist Communist Party of India the Mangat Ram Pasla-led breakaway faction of the CPM in Punjab and BTR-EMS-AKG Janakeeya Vedi formed by the late V B Cheriyan, a staunch trade union leader. M Rajan is the state secretary of the party.
