Dismissing reports of differences in the UDF, its convenor P P Thankachan on Sunday asserted that the front would fight the Lok Sabha polls unitedly in the district.
“The front has devised a strategy that would work very much in favour of the UDF during polls,” Thankachan told reporters after presiding over a meeting called to discuss UDF poll plans at Thodupuzha.
He also rubbished reports of differences in the Congress on the issue of P T Thomas not getting ticket. The decision was taken by the party to utilise the services of Thomas in the organisation. Apparently referring to the groupism within the party and within the ‘A’ group, he said that such issues are temporary and would be settled in due course.
Regarding the Church laying the UDF Government on the Kasturirangan issue, Thankachan said that the government itself had concern over the report. It was due to this concern that the office memorandum was brought out by the Central Environment Ministry following the intervention of UDF, the state government and the Centre.
When this failed to satisfy the Church and other organisations, the government brought out the draft notification of the report addressing all problems of farmers, he said. The government is confident to come out with a final notification which would be in favour of the people of the HRSS.
