Raising allegations that the Congress and the BJP-led alliances were anti-people and promoting pro-corporate powers, the Indian National League (INL) state committee has urged the electorate to prosecute the ruling fronts.
Addressing a press conference, which was attended by the state and national functionaries of the party, here on Saturday, state general secretary of the party A P Abdul Wahab said that it was the right time to discuss burning issues like price rise which had made life difficult for the common man in the past few years.
“Price hike has turned out to be a major concern for the public, while the Central Government, which has pledged the nation to corporate powers, remains reluctant to address the woes of the common man. The public have the right to determine whether corporate powers should rule the country or not,” said Abdul Wahab.
The INL leader further added that the neo-liberal economic policies of the Congress and the BJP should be raised as discussion topics before the polls. The election manifesto released by the CPM was hailed by the party functionaries. Party national general secretary Ahmed Devarkovil said that the CPM manifesto exhorted the public to preserve democracy and secularism, and highlighted alternative steps to save the country.
“The manifesto is a revolution as it deals with the basic needs of citizens. The communities falling under Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have been given due consideration. The stand taken by the party in implementing the recommendations of the Sachar and Ranganatha Misra Commissions is applaudable,” he said.
State president S A Puthiyavalappil, state secretariat member Basheer Bederi and state treasurer B Hamsa Haji were among those who attended the meet.
