Vallathol Prize for Narayana Kurup

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Noted poet, critic and cultural activist P Narayana Kurup has been adjudged winner of the Vallathol prize for the year 2014, instituted by the Vallathol Sahithya Samithi.

 The award carries a cash prize of Rs 1,11,111 and a plaque. The selection jury comprised R Ramachandran Nair, Vishnu Naryanan Namboodiri, Dr A M Vasudevan Pillai, Vattaparambil Gopinatha Pillai, C G Rajagopal and Dr Nanthyath Gopalakrishnan. The Vallathol prize for expatriate writers went to noted dramatist Dr P C Nair who translated works of Ibsen and Herman Hesse into Malayalam.  The awards will be presented on October 6  at Theerthapada Mandapam at Fort here at 6 pm.
