Vayala Award for Pramod Payyannur

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Theatrist Pramod Payyannur has been selected for the third Vayala Vasudevan Pillai award for 2014 instituted by Dr Vayala Vasudevan Pillai Foundation. The award, comprising a cash purse of Rs 25,001, statuette and certificate, will be presented by writer C Radhakrishnan on October 22 at Sanmargadayini Suvarna Jubilee Mandiram at Chanappara in Kadakkal.

Pramod Payyannur is known in both amateur-professional theatre and visual media as a director and writer.

He took his degree in direction with first rank from School of Drama, Thrissur, and masters in Performing Arts from Pondicherry Central University. He is presently doing research on the topic ‘Visual possibilities in Tagore literature’ from Viswabharathi University, Kolkata. 

The award ceremony will be presided over by Mullakkara Ratnakaran MLA, N K Premachandran MP, district panchayat president S Jayamohanan and former MLA Pirappancode Murali.
